Warner - Technically he was available. But the reality is that he was using other teams as leverage against the Cards. I don't believe he ever intended to leave and i believe he has said as much.

Garcia can still play, but can't stay healthy. So while he may help the team win some games, you'll still be looking at Delhomme or Moore at some point in the season.

Pat White is under contract. He is not available.

Someone mentioned Kerry...and I think he would be a nice option here. But we would have had to sign him several years ago as the backup. Personally, I dont think he would want to play here again.

Hammer, three of the teams you mentioned used first round picks to get those guys. One of them was a first overall pick and another was a top three pick. Flacco was still around when we picked #13 last year so you could 'second guess' that one. The jury is still out on Stafford...and the reality is that is is a crapshoot to take a QB in the draft. Cutler threw the same number of picks yesterday that Jake did. He's got incredible talent, but he makes a lot of bonehead throws himself.

I am not saying that Jake is still the answer. He's obviously not. But people think we can just snap our fingers and the QB issue is resolved.

Agreed. But continuing to play fetch with a dog who died 8 months ago is fruitless as well.

The fact that many teams helped themselves at QB means we missed opportunities. Hell, the Jets have been better at QB so far with their last 2. It's a crapshoot, but at this point we have had 6 or 7 vets on the roster and they have been available vets for obvious reason. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Maybe it's time to try something different in QB acquisition. With no picks, we are screwed for a few more years as well....but we do have Jake through 2014, so we got that going for us!!

Cutler played a whole game.....how bad would it have been if Jake had stayed in?

Uhh, Pat White was a joke. And I meant the Panthers could have gotten Warner in 2005. 4 years ago.

They don't have much choice, now.

Sorry, didn't realize that on either account. However, hindsight is 20/20. After the 2004 season, I dont think anyone thought Warner was an upgrade over Jake. He was injury prone and was the turnover machine that Jake is now.

So our front office was wrong about both guys. Evidently, they need someone esle evaluating talent. They've stuck by Jake too long and passed on some guys who could have helped the franchise.

Bad game by Delhommie is an understatement. Fox is right to blame the OL but still Jake is a veteran starter who makes the decisions on where he's throwing the ball and that part of the process is terrible now. At the moment he's got the Brett Farve gunslinger mentality without the arm strength. As it is we're stuck with him since we don't have any real viable alternatives since the team hasn't seen fit to draft a younger QB or bring in a solid veteran. We may as well get used to it for 2009. Fox is either going to ride Delhomme to the playoffs or with him to the unemployment line. Right now I'd say the latter is more likely than the former...

That's true. He was available. But I don't think they would have wanted to pay him what he was worth. Miami had that problem going after Brees.
