Would it be such a bad thing for these two to remain our starting tackles. I was under the impression that it was our interior linemen that kept getting blown up.

Is OT really that high a priority in round 1?

    OL is a key issue.

    So is pass rush.

We have those options, though. If we picked the right pass rusher, we could very well take a RT or guard in 2. But certainly we need at least one pick on the OL, and if we can get an OT in a very good OT class, I don't see why we should plan specifically against it.

Wharton and Gross are good enough, sure. If we can do better, we should consider it strongly.

They'd need a serious upgrade at Guard. I think with a deep tackle draft they view this as a year to get a starting tackle cheap.

As far as priority. OLine is a big priority. however you look at it. I'd be just as happy with Albert in Rd1, but not at the 13th pick. He'll be there a little later.

The teams biggest need is O-Line upgrade, then D-Line upgrade, then realistically Safety. After that everything but probably linebacker and WR would be considered an equal need.

The interior is what needs an upgrade and I would have no problem with Wharton and Gross staying where they are and drafting a guard. #13 is pretty high for a guard though and if we wanted to take Albert I would hope we could trade down and still land him. We have an equal need on the DL too though. Our pass rush was weak last year and needs help. I would love to be able to get a good DE and OL in the draft. Something like Harvey at #13 and then trading up with our second rounder and our extra third so that we get high enough to get Albert or Cherilus.

The good thing is that Wharton can play tackle or guard so we can go either direction. The main thing is to get a guy who can play for the OL.

Spending the first four picks on the lines, unless one of the thirds finds serious value that slipped through the cracks, would be A OK with me. Maybe we'll get lucky enough to have an alternative to paying Gross huge money to be an average LT, or LT money for RT.

Draft a OT and move Wharton inside. Build for the future and strengthen the middle as well. Then again a case could be made we over paid Wharton to move him to guard. But then again guard money has gone up

FWIW, I was fine with Wharton outside all this time and still am. I think it depends on what's available. I don't really advocate trading down with a guard in mind, though - I don't see the use, given that all equal guard is less of a need than pass rush.

Ok... carolina does not need to leave wharton at tackle its too late we picked up barry sims so i think we will do something we do quite often and trade that 13th overall pick to tennessee for there pick in the first round and there fourth round pick... that would give tennessee a pick or WR or other player who might not be available at there pick... and it would give carolina reason to pick up.... BRANDON ALBERT... our o line would then be.... Simms... Wharton... Kalil... Albert... Gross

Ok this would be a GREAT IDEA FOR THE CAROLINA PANTHERS.... we trade a 2nd and the later 3rd to Steelers at 23 for brandon albert.... and with our 13th we could take Kenny Phillips.... and that would be HUGE for the panthers
