    I wonder what made DJ Stout (WFNZ Ops Manager) to pick SPORTING NEWS RADIO over FOX RADIO :confused: ? ?

    Funny...

    heading out of Charlotte today towards Stanly County on 24/27, 610 was CLEARER than 1660 was. I've never had a problem picking up 610 in Concord, Cabarrus County or Stanly County.

    That football show on at lunch today was lots better than listening to TK, I think it was Peter Brown. More choices is always better.

    I don't believe it has as much to do with Czaban as an existing relationship with Sporting News Radio going all the way back to the One on One Sports Las Vegas days with Bob Kemp, Larry Ness, Papa Joe, and Scott Ferrell (Ferrell on the Bench).

    Bob Kemp - Phoenix local.
    Larry Ness - Las Vegas local.
    Papa Joe - still with network.
    Scott Ferrell - ? Last known, Atlanta 680 The Fan.

    I listened to both stations at the same time yesterday and the new station was about a second to second and a half ahead of WFNZ. It was strange.

    From the desk of DJ Stout . . . No mention though if they are going after the Bobcats radio contract . .


    Shawn, I have been working on this for about 6 months. The new daytime signal is huge. We aren't sure exactly where it reaches yet but we have had calls from Columbia, Greensboro, WS, Hendersonville, Aiken etc... We are not sure about the nighttime signal yet. We have some tweaking to do but it may or may not be better than 610. It reaches some places better but may not cover some areas that 610 does. If it is stronger at night, we will move the niners to that frequency. Thanks and spread the word. D.J.

    I talked to one of their engineers about this yesterday afternoon. Most talk stations use a digital delay to delete profanity. When they started the simulcast of the afternoon show 1660 was getting a pre-delay feed. They fixed it later on in the day...
