Its also not like our wins have been against the Rams or the Cheifs. San Diego is still a pretty good team that has had some bad breaks. Minnesota could be a playoff team and might have been 2-0 if they had a QB.

We didn't look that good (and looked horrible against Tennessee) the year we went to the Superbowl. I remember a lot of close and sometimes ugly games. Hell, how good did the Giants look last year until they got to the playoffs.

and i'm not saying its over...just that we've looked like ass, and need to play better. and the Giants won 10 games last year in a division that had no team finish under .500, so i wouldnt say they sucked.

If we play like shit against the Falcons and Chiefs, then there might be some cause for concern. But we've played three very good defenses and have managed to beat two of them. And managing to win is what separates good teams from bad teams.

I'm cool with 2-1, and don't see a lot of folks acting like we're 0-3.

I'm a little tired of watching the OL self destruct when people overload us, and not much being done to counteract it; wondering why our QB isn't being given plays that give us a better chance to keep the pressure off. That's not the first, second or even the third time people have done that to us.

And the lack of discipline in the penalty department is infuriating.

Actually you could easily say that we were just two plays away from 0-3, and that we've had more "bad" performance quarters than "good" ones.

we'll be fine as long as we take care of business by beating the teams we should beat.

have to make hay while we can though because we finish with what looks like a tough 5 games.

so i think that means while it's nice to steal one from san diego, and the minnesota loss, while not great, isn't the end of the world, we can ill-afford to have the usual "what-the-hell-was-that..." type of game against...falcons...raiders...chiefs...lions...etc...

excellent point. we had the same gloom/doom and whining about coaching here after we won our first six (?) games the year we went to the SB because we didn't look good and were beating "weaker" teams. but Fox had that team peaking come playoff time and I think we have seen the Panthers improve during the season fairly consistently under Fox and in particular when he's had a playoff team. the idea at the beginning of the season is to win games and take the wins against whoever you happen to get them against. losing to a "bad" team isn't the end of world, as our loss to Houston during the year we went to the SB proved. we are going to have a "flat" game or two or games where the ball seems to bounce the other way all day long. we have to accept that as a part of the nature of team sports. what we want is to avoid key injuries and be in position record-wise to get into the playoffs at the end of the season and then be clicking on all cylinders at that time. right now we have a lot of young/new players and it's going to take some time for them to jell and work out the kinks. this team on paper is one of, if not, the best team we ever fielded. so i'm still excited about our prospects.

We beat the Chargers on the road. That is impressive since they are one of the better teams in the NFL. We survived against Chicago despite giving up a touchdown on a blocked punt. We were competitive with the Vikings and controlled most of the first half. It got away from us in the second a bit but they are a solid team too. We are 2-1 with no cupcakes played so far.

All that said, if we are really that good we should beat Atlanta....
