If memory serves it was before Branch got hurt, and when Minter was hurt in camp (knee). Minter missed practice time, and he may have missed a pre-season game with it, but that was when Davis was shuttling between LB and safety.

Again, I think that is the timeframe.

No, I know he was at SS, but Magnus is talking about Davis lining up in practice at FS.

I do remember him at FS in camp also....it was brief...sorry but I can't be any more helpful, but I do seem to remember him at FS....wasn't Branch in the doghouse for a short time? Does that ring a bell, or Wesley? I dunno...its friggin late..

Right offhand? No. First place I saw it was the GN&R in print, but I'll look sometime today or this evening. This was later in this season, not preseason or early season, but it was interesting enough I noted it at my desk when I read it.

I don't think it was a mistake, and certainly considering Bashir missed some games before his injury as well (plus getting IR'd for a ham) jives with that context.

I don't think so. I attended camp as well, and to my knowledge he was only lining up at SS then. And no, Branch wasn't in the doghouse during camp. In fact, the opposite is true, as Fox and the coaching staff actually praised Branch in his transition to SS.

I am curious... I know this is getting a bit off topic, but assuming McCree is brought back next season do he and Minter swap again, or do they continue the way they currently are?

They continue where they are. As deficient as Minter is in coverage, I've noticed him out of position in coverage less often than McCree. Neither of them have adequate range and neither make the best decisions in coverage, however, so I'm ready to let McCree walk and see about getting a legitimate FS. Honestly if we'd gotten Lance Shulters like I wanted to, we'd be in a hell of a lot better shape and probably wouldn't have to play so much Cover 3. I hadn't really thought about it until this moment, but Cover 2 requires safeties with more range and better decision making, because it's their responsibility to cover half the field and help out the CBs. In Cover 3 those safeties only have the middle third of the field or some underneath zone, and the responsibilities are a lot less daunting. Unfortunately it makes life harder on the CBs, as they can't play tight or cover the stuff that Tampa Bay used to beat us last Sunday.

With your recent history of calling things that completely turn to shit, I'm now confident that McCree will be re-signed and play Pro-bolwl caliber football next season. :woot:

    Yes.

C3 is what they prefer. They've put together the personnel to have done so, and not playing Minter in the box much is probably one of the reasons he's moved to FS (and why we drafted a large safety). Getting Gamble, when it happened, was a C3 move, as was letting Grant go. It's not something new.

That said, they should be able to play a bit tighter coverage in C3 than they've more recently played in close games.

#1) I don't know what you're talking about, except Thomas Davis at SLB (and that sure didn't last long, did it?).

#2) Why are you so bitter? Lately you've been acting like I fucked your wife (which I didn't, in case you wondered).
