We must not have wanted Grant.

    >>And put in who instead? Just Allen? It'd be somewhat worsem yes. But if we had gotten a guy like Thornton? We'd be just as well, better, if it meant obtaining a player of similar talent to WW at the cornerback position.

Undoubtedly. I've posted this argument, entirely untouched :D that, while Thornton has obviously been wildly successful and no one would've seen that coming necessarily, a strong amount of people here wanted him.

Not to mention, while there was some unrest in the LB position, Morgan/Towns inside was fine. Navies/Brad Jackson would've been fine, and Fields/Allen would've been fine. We cut Jackson in a numbers crunch because we couldn't cut a starter nor could we cut a draft pick.

Pantherfanz, to answer your ill-fated question, I do feel like the Steelers have had excellent pressure. Gildon becoming mildly gimpy didn't help, but nonetheless they get a lot more pressure and sack from the interior trio, they've got excellent linebackers overall, they finished 10th in pass defense despite that horrid secondary. And yet everyone complains about their pass D, because scheme doesn't keep teams from being able to attack suspect secondaries late in games.

Sound familiar? Well-ranked D, poor secondary, lot of pressure, late game collapses?

That's what I bitched about the most last year on our Defense, was giving up the 3rd and 15 and 3rd and 20 plays at the end of the game. Our secondary just wasn't good enough. I really wanted Grant back. I think if they resigned Grant and brought in a CB like Vincent to start along Manning, we would be awsome, or at least, much improved. I could care less about Cousin and Howard. I think they both were below average. I'm not so sure what they are thinking with not getting another good Veteran CB, so far. (Hawkins doesn't qualify as a good veteran CB :D ,IMO)But, I still have hope.

Now with the O-line. I knew they would either restructure Steussie or release him. I just thought it would have been the restructure. I read that Meadows would be RT,Gross LT,Mitchell C,and Nelson Guard, with Tylski and Bryz fighting for the other guard spot. This isn't so bad. I would have rather kept continuity, but they drafted Nelson with a number 2. He damn well should start for that. I hope his ass is ready. :laugh1:

On the bright side, we got more money to spend. I hope Hurney calls Vincent's agent today and tells him to come on down.ASAP.

Yeah. Because our 3rd down % and our overall pass D, both look good. Of course, they will tend to look good when playing field position/ball control.

I did notice that Vincent was represented by a woman. I noticed that Bobby Taylor is being represented by Bobby Taylor.

EXACTLY. People didn't bitch about it as much as in 2002 because we won the games. However, by giving up that late 4th quarter touchdown we had to either win the game in OT, or let Jake pull a last minute TD drive out his ass numerous times. Now, I admit it was exciting. Kinda like the Budweiser commerical, " Drama....No Drama " with the marking of the football :D . I don't know about you, but I would rather just put the team away early than rely on a late rally that may or may not succeed,IMHO. I somehow am holding out hope that our secondary is greatly improved this year. I am all for having a secondary firehouse clearing sale if it's for improvement, but not just to save a few dollars. if that's the case I will be a pissed off Panther fan!:teeth:
