Water Heater - RIP

    Bought a 40-gal GE at Home Depot. Along with a set of flexible connection hoses, compression union connectors (I hope that's the right term) and some teflon tape and it's good to go. No welding/soldering or anything like that required. ~$400 for everything.

    If one of the line/pipe joints has sprung a leak you can solder that shut. If the tank leaks forget it, buy a new one. Read the installation instructions and you can probably install it yourself. Be careful and don't electrocute yourself.

    Replaced ours yesterday. GE 50 gal, 9 yr warranty...$550 installed.

    Had to replace ours in the office yesterday. While soldering and fluxing, they set off all the smoke alarms. Good times I tell ya.

    I also had one the last week GE for $400, but I will install it myself :loveit:.

    Did any of you consider the tankless water heaters before you purchased the conventional tanks?
