The facility I use to work at in Black Mountain has stopped taking new admissions for the time being. A flu epidemic is getting stirred up here in the hills. Strange thing is that people turn up negative on an oral flu swab test that usually detects these kind of things very quick.

Symptoms include a high fever and deep hacking cough along with killer body aches for several days.

    Best prevention.....

WASH YOUR HANDS!... ... be careful not to rub your eyes....... touching shopping buggys etc....

Heh. Nice. Someone remembered. We suspect she caught it from a coworker. They went to lunch together early last week.

I ended up with something too - but not in the chest. Crap like this tends to stay in my sinuses so I ended up with a sinus infection. Slight fever last Friday, but nothing like the wife who made it to 101+ over the weekend.

My buddy who is finishing med school and who is thinking about concentrating in immunology says people are weakening their immune systems with the overuse of antibacterial soaps and such.
