Henning was a scapegoat, and that's all I agree with in the article.

here is our offensive roster, how many of these guy's played to even an average standard this past season?

    63 Hangartner, Geoff C
    66 Montgomery, Will C
    45 Hoover, Brad FB
    48 Jackson, Steven FB
    76 Batiste, D'Anthony G
    71 Mathis, Evan G
    14 Basanez, Brett QB
    17 Delhomme, Jake QB
    16 Weinke, Chris QB
    26 Foster, DeShaun RB
    37 Goings, Nick RB
    24 Haynes, Alex RB
    32 Shelton, Eric RB
    34 Williams, DeAngelo RB
    73 Bridges, Jeremy T
    78 Fordham, Todd T
    69 Gross, Jordan
    61 Kadela, Dave
    84 Gaines, Michael TE
    87 King, Jeff TE
    86 Mangum, Kris TE
    11 Biddle, Taye WR
    18 Carter, Drew WR
    83 Colbert, Keary WR
    88 Hankton, Karl WR
    19 Johnson, Keyshawn WR
    12 McCullum, Justin WR
    89 Smith, Steve WR
    75 Hartwig, Justin
    64 Peters, Scott G
    68 Wahle, Mike G
    70 Wharton, Travelle T
    82 Seidman, Mike TE
    79 Butler, Rashad T
    85 Samp, Chris WR

and I'm tired of hearing (not by you, Meat but in general) about the "they had injuries on the OL." you draft quality depth to prepare yourself for this event. We signed Justin Hartwig knowing he had a lingering injury that would require him to miss the conditioning needed before training camp, he never fully recovered and we had no reasonable back-up plan because the guy's we drafted for depth didn't develop. That's all or mostly on Henning and Maser

do you believe he's responsible for execution?
since Hurney's not an evaluator, do you believe he was partially responsible for talent evaluation and signings?

I do on both, which is a big reason I think he went.

I think he was a scapegoat.

I don't necessarily think it will hurt us, I think we may find a better replacement. Also, some fresh plays and attitudes in the offense and oline might help.

But I definitely think he was a scapegoat. Someone needed to take the fall for overly hyped expectations not being met, Henning took it.

I certainly hope that Fox & Hurney wouldn't fire someone just to appease the fans. Fans don't know shit. I believe they were honestly concerned with the offense.

All or mostly? How about just a little on the players themselves?

Every single year in the NFL, for every single team, there is no small amount of luck involved concerning who makes the postseason. In 9 times out of 10, it is a direct function of who stays healthy. Injuries are a significant factor in the NFL.

Should or should not the offensive line coach have been fired considering 3/5 starters were injured? Maybe. I suspect there was more to it than just the on-field performance this year.

The coaches could have coached better. The players could have stayed healthy. The backups could have taken advantage of their opportunity to start and played better. The healthy starters could have mentored and motivated the backups to be more successful. The team could have won more games.

JR is responsive to the city and the fans, and the fans, like all NFL fans, are extremely fickle. It was time for Henning to go, deservedly or not. OC is not an office job at Bank of America. There is alot of PR involved. A "good job" is not so good if the team doesn't win. That's just the way it is.

pretty much. JR, Hurney, Fox, whoever did it, it's not as if it was unwarranted. It's not like we've had a stellar offense and some blog made this happen.
