War Emblem

I hope not.

I hope so. We drew him in the office pool here this morning - which of course means he'll trip and fall or something....

I hope not too. He isn't a dominant horse and doesn't have the talent of most other TCWs.

I hope he does. Winning the Triple Crown makes you a dominant horse.

Whats happened to all those supposedly dominant horses in the last 40 yrs or so? Ummmm.......they didn't win the Triple Crown.

I'd rather have a "non-dominant" horse win it all.

And, as far as the talent compared to other TPW's......thats a bunch of bull.

You can't compare today's teams (in other sports such as MLB, NFL, NBA, etc) to past winners because the league and players change.

The same can be said for horseracing.

But most sports records are being broken right and left. As far as the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont goes no one has broken Secretariat's record he set in 1973.

He is posting at even odds so that seems fairly dominant to me.:)

I was listening to NPR this evening and a chief complaint of one lady is that War Emblem not win it because the owner was a Saudi and would tarnish the sport. I hope War Emblem wins it to piss of jackasses like that lady.

i know of a few people who feel the same way. Some would prefer to have an American owned horse to win.

War Emblem takes a run at the Triple Crown
By RICHARD ROSENBLATT

--an excerpt:

"While racing would love a Triple Crown winner, there seems to be a trace of resentment regarding War Emblem's connections. Some seem to resent Baffert's quick success; others complain about the late purchase of the colt. Also, Ahmed is a member of the Saudi royal family, a sensitive point in the wake of Sept. 11 since many of the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center were Saudis. "

While that's certainly a valid point, the flip side would be that you would want that horse to win and invite Ahmed to Americas sports and great fun with open arms. What better way to win over the world with our ideas and views on freedom and brotherly love than to have people experince some of the things Americans enjoy. For Ahmed to enjoy himself, and it's always more fun when you win, in America, what a great influence over other Saudi's and Muslims alike. To say people don't want War Emblem to win just because a Saudi owns it is just as racist as whites and blacks against each other.
