The whole point of this Beta is so serious users can install and test. Is it unreasonable to expect to do both of those things?

Yes, because it is NOT the whole point of this Beta to allow "serious users" to install and test. This is a DEVELOPER BETA, which is why it is closed to the general public...

But I'm not the "General Public". You would expect to be able to at least install it. I never even got it to run. It took over 2 hours to get a message that said "Vista can not continue. Please try your intall again." So I did. 2 more hours, 3 blue screens and I was back to XP.

So report your findings to Microsoft and development can continue. If Microsoft could guarantee that it would install on everyone's PC, it wouldn't be a beta.

Agreed. But the advanced user should be able to get it to install. Just saying. If it fucks up after install, that's acceptable.

I learned after the 1st beta project I worked on that even starting the install can be a major roadblock.

The 6,000 developers and testers have another year of coding and debugging to do, I think you can cut them some slack on Beta 1. Beta 2 is when an "advanced user" will get anything useful from messing with it, RC is really the time I get going.
