Maybe at Alcorn state he threw a lot but his first years in the NFL were full of him scrambling. When they went to the superbowl he did a lot of running.

It has nothing to do with skin color other than the coincidence that many "running quarterbacks" are black. Not all black quarterbacks are running QBs though. Warren Moon was not, Doug Williams was not, Leftwich is not..... I guess there have been some white running QBs too but I can not think of any right off that were successful, maybe Fran Tarkenton?

    John Elway.

Before Vick, Bobby Douglas held the record for most yards rushing by any quarterback in a single season.

    Are you Jimmy the Greek?

I understand why you're embarrassed, but you only listed black quarterbacks and pretended that they were all runners. Vick and Cunningham were, but Culpepper and McNabb didn't run all that much more than someone like Jeff Garcia (at least during the early part of his career). And as CC pointed out, McNair was a passer as soon as he came into the league. Comparing Vince Young to those guys is ignorant, and the only reason someone would is if they only saw skin color.

    Edit:
To back up what I was saying, through the first six years of their careers, McNair, Culpepper, and McNabb threw for 6, 8, and 7 times as many passing yards as they gained in rushing yards. Meanwhile Vick and Cunningham only gained 3 and 4 times as many through the air.

Dude, His first full year as a starter (he was nursed the first 2 years) he threw for over 3,000 yards. Yes, he ran for another 600+ that year too but he never had the passing issues of a Vick, Young or Tarvaris Jackson.

When the Titans went to the SB he threw for less yardage but that was because he missed like 5 games that year. Neill O'Donnell was the backup then.

McNair currently has over 31,000 passing yards.

Yall are going to make Thelt cry.

And Cunningham, while certainly a running threat in his prime, threw for over 3400 yards or more 4 times in his career. Injury, not his inability to pass, shortened his carreer.

Steve Young and John Elway never got by on their running ability it was just a bonus they had. Both were great passers.

A "running quarterback" can put some good passing numbers if he is in the right system. If defenses fear the quarterback running it opens up things in the passing game. Look at Culpepper, he had one of the best seasons a QB has ever put up in 2004. After his injury cost him his mobility he fell off a cliff.

None of those guys I mentioned would have been successfull just sitting in the pocket like Marino or Peyton Manning.

I honestly never though about those guys being black. They were just examples of guys who had games like Young has and have been successful with it. If you are not going to develop Vince Young differently than you would Peyton Manning because it is racist to do so then you have some real problems.
