Falcons | Vick likely to accept plea deal
    Wed, 15 Aug 2007 15:06:42 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Jeremy Redmon and Bill Rankin, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, report Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick will likely agree to a plea deal with federal prosecutors in his dogfighting case, according to sources. According to the sources, Vick has not made a decision because he wants to know what a guilty plea would do to his football career. "It is a very good chance he will plead guilty. He definitely wants to play football again. His love is for football. And he would love to play for the Falcons again. But first and foremost is to get back on the field," one of the sources said. If Vick does not agree to the plea, he would likely also be facing a charge under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization or, RICO, statute. The statute targets organized crime and racketeering as well as enterprises affecting interstate commerce.

here's what I think will happen:

    1. Vick cops a plea for a reduced sentence, probably serves a year-18 months.

    2. the team and not the league suspends him without pay until he goes to the big house.

    3. Blank has his lawyers go after the remaining proration of the signing bonus due to Vick being in breech of contract.

    4. After recovering as much of the signing bonus as possible, the Falcons cut Vick after lessening the cap hit for doing so.

5.the league does nothing as far as a suspension until he's served his time (using Tank Johnson as precident).

    6. Goodell slams a year suspension on Vick the day he walks out of the joint.

bottom line, Vick is out of football 2 to 3 years and no one will touch him. He's done.

He'll be a Raider or a Redskin 2 years from now.

I bet if he plea bargains he gets less than 8 months.

Not if Russell does well. I don't see him in Washington at all.

If he is found guilty I think he's done.

cnn.com is reporting the plea deal is between 18-36 months, but that the plea bargain would "clear the way for his return to the NFL". I dont see how he ever comes back.

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Virginian Pilot newspaper in Norfolk, Va., is reporting that federal prosecutors are offering Falcons quarterback Michael Vick a plea deal on dogfighting charges that would require Vick to serve at least one year in prison.

Sources have told CBS 46 that Vick has until 9 a.m. Friday to accept a deal or face new charges in a superseding indictment.

Vick’s two co-defendants, Quanis Phillips and Purnell Peace have already agreed to plea agreements and are scheduled to appear in a Richmond courtroom for a plea hearing Friday. The two have reportedly agreed to testify against Vick if the quarterback’s case goes to trial in November.
