A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that a plea bargain to reduce sentence somehow means they are not guilty of the charges.

No Play Ray sounded pitifully stupid, but one thing he said exactly right is they made an example of Vick. He is screwed six ways from Sunday, the timing of this coming to light could not have been worse for him.

I may be using the wrong term, but no contest(?) is not pleading "guilty" it just means you're agreeing there may be enough evidence for a jury to convict. But he's pleading guilty as far as everything I've heard so he IS admitting guilt.

On Countdown they said 12-18 months but could be up to 5 years. They also seem to feel he either will come back (Jaws surprisingly) or has a remote chance but not as QB. Also said he has the chance to turn his life around now that he's acknowledged his quilt and can be a great come back story in 2-3 years. GAG.

I'm not sure Vick truly regrets anything other then being caught and picking crappy business partners. I still don't see remorse in any sense. I think at some point someone sat him down and said go to trial and get locked up for possible decades with the additional federal charges or plea and hope for less then 2 years active sentence. No, I really don't see any great life altering revelations radiating from him. Might happen someday, but if somehow his friends had been charged and he'd not gotten caught up in it, he'd kept right on never batting an eye over it all.

I am NOT taking vick's side in this--just to be fair to him, he has yet to speak ON CAMERA about any of this. It has all been through statements from his attorneys, or a radio call in show.

I agree that he hasn't shown much remorse in this, but then again, we haven't seen him since the indictment came down.

edit--thanks T Schroll for catching the error

From an article on Charlotte web site.....

"In a telephone interview with the AP, Martin said Vick is paying a high price for allowing old friends to influence his behavior, but he emphasized that his client takes full responsibility."

So if Vick is taking full responsibilty why blame his friends for influencing his behavior. It's amazing when athletes fuck up it's always someone else influencing them, they can't be the ring leader. Who's to say Ookie didn't tell his friends to set it up.

He's gonna get what he deserved. Prison time, and no more Vick in the NFL. Sad for the image of the league, and that he destroyed what he could have been, but he did it to himself. I don't feel sorry for him at all.
