Vick is just the tip of the iceberg

caught a segment on The Pulse earlier which included interviews with an undercover FBI agent and also an FBI informant. It didn't paint a pretty picture. The informant places Vick at several dogfights as well as having made bets on them. The undercover guy was asked how reliable a witness the guy was and he stated the informant's testimony had already resulted in a half dozen convictions. The informant also stated that there were 25-30 additional NFL players involved as well as some NBA guys. Guess we're about to see how big a bad ass both Goodell and Stern want to be in cleaning up their respective sports.

Its in the record as his confession. He can't deny it in the future, so in that respect it is kind of legal fact. However, I don't think there's any presumption that those are ALL the facts. Its his testimony, kind of, no more or less. A state prosecutor can say Vick was lying. The fact that this judge accepts the plea doesnt mean that he accepts the statements as true, or at least totally true. It just means he accepts the plea as in the interest of justice, and then he imposes sentence, which is usually what the deal was. He doesnt have to accept the deal, because he's the judge. They usually do though, because everyone thinks the ability to do deals helps justice get done, and uncrowds the dockets.

I don't think Martin has done anything wrong. Its his job to get Vick the best deal possible. He hasnt lied, cheated, stold, flamed things up, created distractions, or anything else. There was alot of damning stuff in that statement. Its just that it wasnt as damning as some of us thought it would be earlier. There's a chance its even true.

BTW, he admits he gambled. The distinction made is that he gambled on his own dogs, not other people's dogs. Apparently this may be important for some of the RICO charges or something. That's running a corrupt organization, meaning something like the Mafia. He also admits there was gambling going on when he was there. That's enough to justify a long suspension from the NFL, but probably not a lifetime one.

I wonder what Vick's reception back to the league would be if he sold out any other players?
