I was reading Smith and Street last night in Columbia SC. It looks like a ccase of have and have nots in divivion winners. The Panthers are projected to win the south at 12-4 while the Bucs and Falcons are next teams is at 8-8? Saints 6-10. The rest of the NFC followed suit. Seahawks at 12-4, Rams 8-8. Central had Bears I think at 11-5 and Packers second, the East got BOTH wild cards with Dallas winning at 12-4 and Redskin and Giants coming in around 10-6

Sort of like the NFCS, I can't see how any of those NFCE teams are gonna do much besides beat up on each other and don't believe any of them will make 12-4.

Washington and Philly seem to have the easiest schedules, but all of them have to play the NFCS 4 times.

This assumes that Hurney would actually waste his time here.

Tampa seems to be hit or miss. They have a manageable schedule, and they've kept their team intact. But that's the thing - there's been a trend of teams who don't make noise in free agency, returning most of their starters only to regress the next season (Kansas City '04, Philly '05). Still, I think they will be a top notch team in the NFC, and they should be considered the team to beat in the division, IMO.

Atlanta should improve on defense, but I don't see how they've made sufficient upgrades on offense. Wayne Gandy could help, but they lost a solid player in Shaffer, while the offensive as a whole has become predictable, even to an average fan like myself. If Crumpler is taken out of his routes, the whole passing game hits the fan. Jenkins has shown steady improvement. They'll need him to be more consistant as the starting flanker.

Then there's the Saints, who seem to be the sleeper of many people. With a new staff, quarterback, and defense, they are liable to start with a few wins, drop off during October/November, and finish strong. I am certainly not going to pass them off as the divisional doormat, but I do see enough question marks up front and in the secondary. The sketchy situation in New Orleans can't help, though they have done a remarkable job of selling season tickets. If that gets settled, they'll be a very strong team for many years to come.

And I think we have a chance to win a few games. We'll see what happens.

Nobody picked the Giants to win the East? I find that a bit odd.
