Does my heart a world of good to see the very best struggle. Only 7 players (rt now) under par

    I enjoyed watching the golf

But I got tired of the complaining about how hard the golf course was. There are plenty of weeks where they get to shoot 15 to 20 under par for a tournament. The national championship should be tough.

When only 2 golfers finish under par something is wrong. Chris DeMarco had every reason to bitch about the greenskeepers not watering the green for him like they did for a lot of other golfers. Their response, "we water when we feel like" I don't want to see 25 under par but if the greatest golfers can't play the course then there is something OBVIOUSLY wrong

It is not uncommon for the winning score of the Open to be around even par. If they were watering for some and not others then that was not fair. Otherwise, I don't have a problem making these guys really work for every shot.

Dont get me wrong, I like seeing the best players play their best on the toughest courses, but when a guy hits a solid shot (not spectacular) and get pnished by the ball running (not rolling but running) off a green (and not just #7 at Shinnecock), there is something wrong with the set-up.
The USGA tries to make every course Uber-tough, and because of this, i fear that Pinehurst in '05 will be tame. Payne Stewart's winning total in 99 was -1....wouldn't shock me if someone wins it at -8 next year, purely a result of softening the course. USGA blew it this time around...hope it plays better next year.

I am just glad Phil lost. If I had to look at that goofy smile for a second longer I was going to die.
