Got an update (of sorts) in regards to this matter...

I sent an e-mail yesterday and got a reply back today from the Director of Corporate Communications of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Here is what he told me...

The moral of the story is that the cable providers can decline it if they want to. As I said earlier, Charter is my provider, they basically have a monopoly on Western North Carolina (Asheville, Marion, Boone, Morganton, Hickory). Pretty much nobody north of I-85 is getting the games. Other markets in the Carolinas include the Columbia, Greenville-Spartanburg, Florence-Myrtle Beach and Charleston SC areas. Also if interest would be Wilmington NC. Isn't the Wilmington area where the Bobcats hold their pre-season workouts? Seems odd that they wouldn't be broadcasted there as well.

This person also stated in the e-mail that for Satellite Viewers, anybody within a general 75 mile radius of Charlotte should get the broadcasts on either Directv or Dish Network.

With all respect.......is it possible that the powers that be in the TV world have gathered an opinion that the NBA is not helping them make $?
Lets face the facts, the NBA, for whatever reason is falling in the "worth" of their exposure. Just look at the NBA finals, were they on ABC, NBC, or CBS? No, nor was the Hockey finals/playoffs.
If these 2 sports were making $ via TV broadcast, doesn't it make sense that a "major" entity would pay to broadcast them?
I hate it too, but its a $/interest thing.
If we don't back our NC teams, they will leave!
