These obviously are not happy times over in Chapel Hill. Today's Daily Tar Heel reports Jawad Williams and Melvin Scott have met a number of times with the UNC coaching staff to express their and their teammates' displeasure with the relationship they have with the coaches. Doherty is quoted in the article as welcoming the discussion.
Indeed, it may all end up for the good that feelings have been openly expressed and the cards are now on the table. Nonetheless, there appears to be a good deal of tension within the Carolina program. Althought both Williams and Scott have said they are not planning on transfering, Williams does say he will if things don't change. In addition, Williams' mother says, "I've never seen a group of guys so unhappy. I think they've all thought about leaving at some point."
It's well known that Coach Doherty is not, to put it charitably, the most favorite person with staffers and administrators at UNC. And now it seems that the displeasure with his attitude goes well beyond just them and hits awfully close to home - or, to be more precise, the locker room.
Looks like maybe it wasn't Dukies starting all these rumors after all:
