UNC Athletic Dept. Credit Card Used To Buy Beer

CARRBORO, NC -- Carrboro police are investigating the use of a credit card belonging to the North Carolina athletics department to buy hundreds of dollars of beer.

An employee of Spinx Oil Co., a convenience store, told police that three men purchased $515.21 in beer from her on an Exxon charge card Sunday. The employee said she was concerned that the men made the three purchases without authorization from the athletics department.

UNC police reviewed the store's security system videotape of the transactions and turned the case over to Carrboro police, said Lt. Archie Daniel of UNC police.


Capt. Joel Booker of the Carrboro Police Department said suspects have been identified and charges will likely be filed.
