don't be surprised now for St. Louis to trade Pace to the Texans for the #3 pick

SAINTS TRADE TURLEY TO ST. LOUIS RAMS FOR SECOND-ROUND PICK IN 2004

The (Monroe, La.) News-Star news services
The New Orleans Saints have traded T Kyle Turley to the St. Louis Rams for a second-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, says General Manager Mickey Loomis.

"This is a move forward for our organization and for Kyle," said Loomis. "This trade allows us the flexibility to add more talent to our roster in the future. We wish Kyle the best in St. Louis."

For the 2003 NFL Draft on April 26, the Saints have five picks in the opening three rounds: Two No. 1 choices (the Saints' own at 17th overall and the Miami Dolphins' pick at 18th overall via the trade for RB Ricky Williams in 2002), a second-round selection and a pair of third-round choices (the Saints' pick and the selection acquired in the trade of T William Roaf to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002).

New Orleans traded its fourth-round pick at the close of training camp last year to the Cincinnati Bengals for RB Curtis Keaton. The Saints also sent their sixth-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for backup QB Todd Bouman on March 13.

The club has its fifth-round choice and two seventh-round picks (the Saints' pick and the choice acquired in the trade of RB Ricky Williams of Texas Tech to the Indianapolis Colts in 2002).

Maybe this helps us. If the Texans trade for Pace they will not take Gross in the draft. With Turly the Rams may not take him either.

Gross would have been there at the #9 pick anyways

Ravens probably won't take an OT over a WR or QB, IMO. Similar boat to us. St. Louis doesn't have as dire a need along the line either. So if we pass on Gross, that could put him to the Saints, which I would doubt, or lower. Needless to say that puts Foster available at our pick, unless Baltimore decided it needed one in the 2nd. Something to consider valuewise.

Rams don't have need, no, assuming they don't trade Pace. Taking Gross and trading Pace could be a wise, and cost effective long term solution. They have good money into Turley, having Gross around for his rookie contract would solidify them offensively for several years, and they can start reaching for one dimentional defensive players again.

Ravens are similar to us. Billick likes Boller quite a bit is what I hear, to the point that pick may be locked up if he's their. If he is gone, he could look back at tackle.

Pats could, probably should, look corner or defensive line, but if Gross falls that far one has to wonder if their targets will be there.

On the flip side though, I believe their may be increasing likelyhood that Gross won't be their at 9 anyway. Dallas is looking at him, and to add to the Jags woes (who have also scheduled a visit), JDR is concerned Williams may not return from injury, and the only other viable tackle under contract right now is Pearson, who had rookie year struggles.
