while all that might end up being true, it's not justification to bring in someone like fat albert. and the reasons to take a pass on him are numerous, so much that we will not be entertaining any such foolery. seriously...why would any team want to add him to a defense where he would become the role-model vet on a line of brayton and youngsters? it would be awful. he cares about himself and his money, and you are seriously stumping for a scenario where he comes here for the balance of his contract? terrible idea. even with the dumptruck of cash he's gotten off the idiot redskins, he helped them how? to 4 wins? to a last place finish? to a high draft pick? he gave them nothing, and yet you want to believe he'd come here to mayberry to our podunk team full of babies and a lame coach and magically do better...something...anything???
worst idea ever. maybe if/when he gets here, we can finally implement the previous worst idea ever and switch to a 3-4 with him at nose.

    That's a competitive award.

Please, Thelt, explain why he would suddenly get motivated coming here? The guy has a history going back to college of only playing hard when a payday is on the horizon.

I just think you have to look at his whole career and how he performed in Tennessee when you evaluate him. Certainly the Redskins overpaid for him but that is mostly there fault. How do you sign a guy like him to a very rich contract and then switch to a defense that does not fit his talents? That would be like signing Drew Brees then running a ball control run first offense. I see it more of a problem with Snyder and his inability to stick with anything more than a couple of season than I do an issue with Haynesworth. Sure Haynesworth is a prick but so what. Our team full of youngsters is still a team full of adults and they have coaches too.

Look at his whole career in Tennessee and you'll notice he was at his best in contract years, 2007 when his rookie deal was up and 2008 when he was franchised. Oh, and he tried to stomp another players face.

brees is an awesome example. thank you. i would think brees wouldn't say a word about it. especially if he got 21 million reasons to shut up and play a few weeks ago. i mean brees went to a team that not only had a proud tradition of losing, but also had a displaced fanbase, ruined city, mostly-negligent owner, and widespread talk of moving to san antonio or los angeles. no comparison. at all.
look at his whole career?? to paraphrase costanza, his whole career has been a sham.

His whole career was in the past .

    Today , NOW...

Al is all about the $$$

Nothing Al is doing know indicates he will be a motivated player for any team .

If he gets his wish to be traded to a 4-3 defense.
What's to keep Big Al from getting the big head.
Hey I can do what I want when I want I'm Big Al

I guess a part of me does not blame him for being upset. He had every team in the league drooling over him when he hit free agency and the team that signed him said he would play in a 43. After one year they changed it to a 34.

I am not sure how motivated he ever was. He does not seem like a hard worker. Neither was Kris Jenkins though. Sometimes it is just natural ability that lets a guy do well in the NFL.

He's upset because he went to a team with a history of constantly changing coaches then got mad when the coaches changed and a new scheme was implemented. He could've signed a smaller contract with other teams that played a 4-3 of he loves the scheme so bad.
Jenkins was a hard worker on the field, he just wasn't as dedicated to maintaining his body off it or keeping his mouth shut, two problems which became worse when he felt he was underpaid and started looking for ways out.

Shanahan has a long, storied history with spending a ton of time on the offense and doing just enough with the defense to undermine whatever lackey he hired on D.
He went through so many coordinators in Denver, despite having somewhat decent defenses.
