anyone who trades for someone who may never play again is an idiot, now if you know beyond reproach he will return and be the player he was then that is another story.

Hell I'll be an idiot, but HELL no. If you can assure me 100% that Manning will be able to return to form, then I might change my mind, but its possible he never plays again.

    Manning's fate? I say it's very good.

Neel Anand, an orthopedic spine surgeon in Los Angeles, is very familiar with the surgery Manning had. He told me it would be between three and six months before Manning would be able to perform the sort of athletic acts required by an NFL quarterback. But he said he had little doubt about Manning being able to resume his football career.

I had an interesting email the other day from a reader, John Swain, of Smyrna, Del., about having the same surgery Manning had ... and he had it 20 years ago. "Without getting into a lot of history, I will say I played a lot of sports as a kid and on into college,'' wrote Swain. "I am about 6-3. I have lived with the results of my surgery for 20 years. My results were excellent. I have had 20 extremely good years as a result of this surgery. I had it when I was about 40. Initially, once I recovered, I returned to a fairly active life, going back to pickup basketball games, extensive bike riding and much more. If I were playing at his level, I have NO doubt I would have been able to [come back to play]. This surgery will not impair his ability to drop and read quickly. It will not affect his ability to throw with the same authority (zip on the ball, etc). He will lose maybe two percent of his neck flexibility. If he wants to come back you will NOT see a difference.''

It is not possible that he never plays against as a result of these surgeries. You people have to stop being idiots and listening to the rumor mill.

should prob also look at Manning's cap hit... isn't he the second highest paid QB in the league? What would we have to cut to pay Manning?

But without the neck injury... would I have traded our #1 overall pick for Manning? Yep

would I trade Cam right now for Manning? Nope

part of that is because we're not in a position to make a super bowl run... 3 years from now, maybe we are... that would make Manning pushing 39 or 40... I think Cam has the better potential for upside then Manning 3 years from now... I don't think Manning is playing 4-5 years from now... and it's possible he's done for good now anyway.

If I knew Peyton would be healthy again and play at the same level for another four or five years then sure, in a heart beat.

Colts would never trade Manning if his neck was still attached to either his head or body. much less both.
