Don't know...they are gonna have to pay Malkin, Sid too, I imagine Staal, and I know there is one other I'm leaving off. If they can convince these guys to take as much as the Pens can afford (cap wise), they could be the modern day Oilers. I really like their nucleus, the parts that have been added make them even better. I don't know (based on how little I have seen them) how solid the D corps is (as in top 6), but overall, Pens are now up there (for the stretch run) with Ottawa in the East. Sens are going to be a tough out in the playoffs, if they stay healthy.

when the offense starts averaging 6 gpg, I'm sure the defense and goalie won't give up more than 5 gpg. I'm calling it now, Pens over Dallas in 6 games. Once again, Canada gets to see the Cup south of the border.

I said "could be". Fleury and Conklin are a nice duo, not Moog/Fuhr, but still not bad for the new NHL.

Pens have three good offensive D-men in Gonchar, Whitney, and Letang. They lost their best solid defenseman in Eaton for the year, but I give Thieren a lot of credit for the improved defense over the past two years. I just hope he figures out a way to work out the goalie situation. Having a surprisingly strong goalie with the main man coming back isn't the worst situation, but goalie management is some fragile shit.

Anyways- how do you guys like Ladd for Ruutu?

I like it. I think Ladd is really overrated and Ruutu is better. He did well tonight and laid a monster hit on a guy. Canes won another game. I would like to get through at least the first round of the playoffs, but I don't see this team going past that without Roddy.

Virtual swap of the same player. Ladd is greener (in terms of experience), but he was playing well before the trade. I'll like him in Chicago as the Hawks continue to build with youth.

Ruutu is the anti-euro. Physical and gritty. I like that too. We'll see how his face heals after Elias whacked him last night. Not a bad pickup--they could have done better, but they also could have done a whole lot worse.
