Just got back from an event at the speedway. After two years of careful planning, the Team Racing Auto Circuit was ready for the great unveiling.

The thing was attended by the affluent (i.e. potential sponsors/team owners), those directly involved in the venture (e.g. Cale Yarborough, Danny Ford, etc.), media personalities (including WFNZ's DJ Stout, TC and Andy Abdow), sports journalists from all over the country (The Observer's David Poole had left for Fontana early this morning, but Tom Sorenson was representin') and...me.

I'd just left a job-site, and brought with me plenty of dirt and sheetrock dust. I didn't quite fit in.

Anyway, the whole concept is pretty damned interesting - and could potentially become huge.

We'll have to see how it goes...

I just saw the report on CNC. What's the skinny? Cities vs. cities?

A report? Really? Did they have video footage? If you see one dirtbag amongst the suits...that would be me!

There's lots of info available on their site, Mark - but that's the basic concept. Each city will field a team of three cars and their finish will determine which city wins the event.

It looks like a lot has gone into the planning; I'm curious to see how it will all pan out.

Will each city have all 3 cars? I mean, Mustangs don't have a prayer against Vettes and Vipers. (granted, I know hte whole stock car doesn't equate to race car thing - but still)

Dang... There really was a lot of press today about the news conference, wasn't there?

Mark, they were really unclear as to which/how many of those prototype body-styles would actually be employed. I think they may have just wanted to give an idea of what they've been kicking around.

There is more info about the cars here.

BTW - if you're really into it, e-mail me your mailing address and I'll send you the press kit that they were handing out. (...I'm keeping the credential, though! :D )
