Cutler ruled out due to post concussion issues.

I assume most will think this is good news for the Panthers...

We'd have a better chance to score if Cutler was playing.

All I know is Todd Collins looked rather shitty on Monday night. I know Cutler didn't do much, but this game just became much more winnable.

Wait, I forgot. They have Peppers. Nevermind.

Get ready for the sub-par, short-bus replies:

"I WANNA SEE US WIN AGAINST THEIR BEST! I DON'T WANT NO CHEAP ASS WINS"

    Fuck that. I'll take it.

    Bears at Panthers

Florio's take: A loss would send the Panthers to 0-5 at their bye, putting coach John Fox at risk of possible termination. Last week, Carolina showed progress against the Saints, and the Panthers have a blueprint for turning the Jay Cutler (or, as it turns out, Todd Collins) black and blue, courtesy of Big Blue. The correction for Chicago continues, and Carolina gets in the win column by sticking it former Panther and Tar Heel Julius Peppers.

    Florio's pick: Panthers 14, Bears 12.

Rosenthal's take: A lot of fun questions can be answered here. What does the worst passing attack in football look like after Carolina loses Steve Smith? How many forward passes will John Fox call with a rookie quarterback and three rookie wide receivers? Would you rather have a wobbly Jay Cutler (or, as it turns out, Todd Collins) or a healthy Jimmy Clausen? I'll take Cutler (or, as it turns out, Todd Collins), especially since the Bears rush defense can stop Carolina's one strength.

    Rosenthal's pick: Bears 17, Panthers 10.

I'm thinking this game might not be easy on the eyes. I"ll take the win either way, but its starting to look like a cripple fight.

Peppers gets the nod at QB for the injured Cutler

Jay Cutler took enough of a beating Monday night that Bears coach Lovie Smith has determined Cutler is unfit to play Sunday at Carolina.

The Bears announced on Thursday that Julius Peppers will start under center for the first time in his 9-year career. The move comes on the heels of Peppers' scathing remarks towards his former employer.

"Um, well, you know, you get chances, and I mean you go out there and do what you try to do," said Peppers. "I don't have any problems with the Carolina Panthers, but at the same time, when you don't call me before I sign with Chicago as a free agent, it does leave, you know, some wounds to clean up, so to speak."

Todd Collins, who has not started a game since 2007, was expected to get the nod. When notified that Peppers would be making the start at quarterback, Collins offered no harsh words.

"You have to give it to Julius," said Collins. "I mean, he's the man, and whatever we need to do to get a win, I will support. I'm just thrilled, at 40, to be collecting a paycheck to cover all my poor investments."
