    from the foxhole...

On injuries: Jon Beason - knee sprain. C.J. Davis - ankle. Thomas Davis - limited with a knee. Charles Godfrey had surgery on his hand and did not practice. Landon Johnson - limited with a groin. Nate Salley - knee, wasn't here today, team decision. Jonathan Stewart - foot.

On if he expects linebacker Jon Beason to be ready for the regular-season opener: Day-to-day. The regular season opener is a ways away. There a lot of day-to-days.

On what is wrong with safety Charles Godfrey's hand: He broke his hand.

On how long Godfrey will be out: Day-to-day.

On if he expects Godfrey to be ready for the regular-season opener: I expect him (to be) day-to-day.

On roster moves: We released (wide receiver) Jason Carter and picked up safety Kevin Kaesviharn.

On what safety Kevin Kaesviharn brings to the team: He's a veteran safety that we think can step in and help us. He's got some catching up to do but he's proven he can play, and we'll take a good look at him here moving forward.

On if the release of wide receiver Jason Carter narrows the competition for the fourth wide receiver: We haven't made any decisions yet. Obviously, we made that decision, and part of that was for safety help. We've still got some guys competing there, and that's why we've got these last two games.

On if Carter did not recover completely from last year's season-ending knee injury: I can't go into exact details, but this gives him an opportunity to look elsewhere, and we needed a spot for a safety.

On the progress of the team after two preseason games: I think we are probably on target. We've had some injuries and have held some guys out. We haven't had our full complement of receivers thus far. But other than that I think we're making strides. We were better last week than we were the week before and we've just got to keep plugging away.

On if quarterback Matt Moore has moved up the depth chart or if was he the first quarterback off the bench against Miami because he wanted Moore to get some work with the first team: Just a case of putting him in that situation. We've got a plan of how to play our quarterbacks. We haven't seen a lot of those young quarterbacks, so (we'll) take a look at them, sort it out at the end of the preseason and see where we are as far as who's two and who's three.

On how Moore played against Miami: I thought both quarterbacks (Moore and Josh McCown) played well. I think Josh had his moments and so did Matt. Again, we've got Baltimore and Pittsburgh yet and we'll continue to look at them.

I love how Fox says a bunch of words without saying anything at all.
