Seems to me the concept of the "Grand Slam" is fuzzy. There's no written definition of it (that I've seen) so that in itself will lead to leeway in the way it's interpreted.

There's the "Career Grand Slam." It's self explanatory, you win all 4 majors in your lifetime.

There's the "Single Season Grand Slam," which Tiger's aiming for now.

The controversy lies in, what is the "Grand Slam?" Some (most) feel it's all 4 majors one year, but their opinion is just that, their opinion.

In the end, I really could care less what they call it. Yes, he's held all the trophy's at one time. No, he didn't do it in the same calendar year. I'm just gonna acknowledge what he's accomplished.

I respect him for what he does. I think anyone that's ever tried to play golf does that. I don't like him. I think he's overly dramatic on the course and frankly he gets on my nerves.

People bitching are holding out hope that he loses in one of the upcoming ones (British, PGA) Go ahead and sratch his name on those tropheys and then they can go on and bitch about something else. Like why all the other golfers arn't getting their shit together and playing. Woods hasn't had to play that well at the Masters or US Open. The other golfers fold for him

Adrian is still thumping Tiger for not being more political and for not taking up for a guy who can't physically walk the course. That's what the article is about. Has nothing to do with whether or not the calendar year Slam or a sequential Slam holds any more significance than the other. 4 in a row is quite an accomplishment any way you slice it.

He is what he is. I heard on the radio from Charles Barkley, who often plays golf with Tiger, that he is very very determined to win the Grand Slam "within the calender year" the way the media wants partly to stick it to 'em. He also realizes that the window of opportunity is very very small for such an accomplishment. Desire and determination is all he's about right now in his life. No woman holding the brother down, no issues, no distractions, no family. no kids, nothing..... just golf. Whoelse on the tour has that?

I don't blame him. Every since he's won those trophies, the media has done nothing but get in his face going " Na nana na naa na , you didn't really win it, you didn't really win it, Na nana na naa na" Sometimes athletes become what the media makes them. It's not about the money with Tiger. So he doesn't walk and talk the way I'd like him to. Who does?
