    anybody shocked??

He did a good coaching job at the end, but there's only so much bad press an organization can take

Good. It was necessary. Wilf's team, and Wilf's necessity to right some pretty big wrongs McCombs had left him.

Oughta be interesting to see who gets the GM spot there, though with the Tice firing you have to wonder if he has someone in mind to sign ASAP as a coach.

Did he do a good job or did Brad Johnson do a great job?

BJ. Tice had no idea what to do with Culpeper after Linehan left, so he could effectively mold Johnson to do what he needed him to do, so I give him some credit for that, but in the end his inability to keep coaching a near-sure-thing in a superstar QB meant a lost season. Losing Linehan to what amounted to simply a larger contract is just the tip of the iceberg as far as organizational problems and general cheapness with the Vikings, but it was also a big part of why the O sucked.

They basically beat stiffs with Johnson, other than the Giants, and if I remember right Manning basically threw that game away. The Vikings had one offensive drive the whole game.

Here's hoping Manning throws a few picks to us next week.

I do not blame them for canning him but I was a bit surprised it came so quickly especially after the way they turned things around. Maybe they will hire Mooch so he can have a chance at the Lions twice per year.

they re-upped with VP Rob Brzezinski today, too. That may or may not mean they're still going to hire a GM, but it probably means that the Tice firing being so quick and renewed respect for Brzezinski would leave the team possibly hiring a GM indepently of a coach and/or keeping the GM out of the decision of hiring a coach.

profootballtalk (which I can't believe I just started reading again) states that it's entirely possible that likely-deposed GM Phil Savage (Browns), who was only in the job one year, might get hired on with Minnesota to attract Kirk Ferentz to the job.
