Well, Smith would've had a long touchdown catch if Hall hadn't grabbed Smith's arm on that 37 yard pass-interference call. Hall's gonna catch a lot of crap, and deservedly so, but he did the best thing for Atlanta on that pass inteference, b/c if not, Smith has him beat for the TD.

The Falcon fan with me (a family member) was griping all the way back to SC about Hall, saying that Hall cost them the game, and that drive would've been a Field Goal instead of a TD except for Hall. But again, if Hall doesn't reach out for Smith's arm and pass interference, it would've been a quick TD anyhow.

most rational people will see the PI as a necessary call, and rational Falcons fans will accept that.

The hard part is that the rest were judgement calls, and the problem is that Hall just let Smith get the best of him and he couldn't shut the fuck up and just play. He cost his team. So their fans blame the refs.

agreed mags. the PI was the BEST flag he drew on that drive--since it happened DURING the play, and it was a legit PI. The mouthing off is what cost him/ATL on that possession. I have never looked around at other media folks in the press box and seen as many quizzical looks and chuckling as I saw during that drive.

Hall let Smith get in his head. That one was a classic. Hall was useless after that. I would have pulled him if I were the coach, at least until he calmed down.

Coulda sworn that Smitty caught that deep ball from Carr in the 4th, but looks like I was wrong:

    2nd and 7 at CAR 15 (12:49) D.Carr pass deep right to K.Colbert to ATL 47 for 38 yards (C.Houston).

So Colbert actually had 3 grabs, and the TE had 4. Give Smitty that PI catch (and a TD?) and that's decent distribution.

King has played well so far. He adds a dimension to our passing game that has been lacking.
