Since you can carry over unused cap space, maybe the strategy is to clear room now in case you need it, and if you don't need it you just keep rolling it over.

The problem is that money you save now is pushed into future seasons, so you're reducing your future flexibility, especially if you spend that rollover cap space unwisely.

Cap space aside, he is currently leading for OLB Pro Bowl votes, I believe I heard, but the main reason I am bumping is to acknowledge he is the sole NFL player nominated for SI Sportsman of the Year.

Problem is, they are having him go up against the entire KC MLB team, and a horse. So, no chance. Losing to a World Series winning team, one thing. Losing to a horse?

As far as I am concerned, his contributions on the field this season are at least on a par with Norman, who got the midseason DPOY in the press (I know, midseason means shit, but still).

    Badass.

Agreed. He's been the best linebacker on the team. It's pretty awesome that I can't figure out if Norman, Davis, or Short are the best defender on the team when that doesn't even include a DPoY award winner.

Let's really enjoy this, because with Short coming on and Norman playing out of mind, one of them isn't getting paid by the Panthers.

Charles Johnson getting cut is going to free up another $11 million. I expect Short to get signed and then Norman to be franchised.
