Well, I did it... (Not that it was that tuff) - picked up a barebones box with:

Intel P4 1.6
64MB Video Card w TVout
512 DDR
60GB 7200 Hard drive
DVD
CD/RW
10/100
Sound Blaster Live
(Then pulled some of my other PCI cards etc out of the old box and put in this one)

Added XP and everything loaded right on up.

On top of that I changed my household network to this thing:

Its cool - got a lap top and this PC Cat5 to the back. Got 2 other PC's in the house going through wireless. The cool thing is this PC does not have to be on for the others to work. My other RR sharing deal by Intel relied on this PC to be on and be the host.

Even though my old PC was a P3 500mhz, it did have 32mb video and 384MB ram, I did not expect this new one to be much faster on the internet... This bitch screams

I have the Pinnacle Card With Studio 7 ($299) - had that a while, pretty slick - records back to VCR... you can also make a Video CD that will play on a DVD player capable of playing video CDs - this card also has 2 firewire hook ups on it.

Eventually I'll get a DVD r, but not for at least 6 months.

edit - no I have never considered a MAC, never have liked how they work, plus I don't know if I could work on them (physically) as easily as a PC...

I have an Athlon 1gig processor and don't see any difference from my bros P4. Although he has 32 mg Vid card compared to my 64 mg so that could make up the difference.

Which is opposite of me, I don't care for pc's because they don't work

Don't get me wrong, PC's are great, not once has the wind been so strong that it failed to keep my doors open

On those Video CD's, or DVD's you burn with CD software, I've been meaning to ask you, what is the capacity? 650mb or 4.7 gig? Not to be a SA, I'm just curious.
