All I've read is they added a year to the deal and his 24 million cap was split in half. We saved 12 mil this year

"Shaq Thompson’s cap hit was to be about 24.5 million in 2023, which led the Panthers and caused many to question whether his contributions to the team were worth that much. That figure counted as the 2nd highest for outside linebackers in the league, per Spotrac. On a two year deal, the Panthers can likely cut that in half, if not more for 2023."

Aside from #1 overall QB gamble the carolina plan "should" include addressing 6 huge glaring needs

    FA NEEDS

WR (#1 receiver) because you got rid of your best option BY FAR for your rookie fucking QB

TE (receiver) because you don't have one and your fucking rook QB could use a TE to throw the ball to

LB (inside) because you are switching to 34 without any decent experienced inside 34 LBs to read and lead your damn brand new defense

    DRAFT NEEDS

LB (only have 2 starter quality and need 4) because you are switching to a defense that you don't currently have the F'ing personnel for

ED (pair with Burns) because you need more than one good pass rusher in a 34

CB because you only have one solid (but injury prone) corner who can press cover

I know I'm missing some shit like an upgrade to G and backup RT, and a change of pace RB with hands, and making sure that players you still have that will fit are retained.

Aside from that Mrs Lincoln the play should be awesome

Yeah but once you get a qb every problem gets easier and cheaper to solve! Its a cure all miracle.

Stroud or whoever it is will make the season ticket printer go brr and tepper likes that sound.

    True, many needs.

DE for the 34, maybe even a nose
Some say move Luvu opposite of Burns, but the strength in the draft is TE, CB and DE/Edge. The latter 3 we can draft, especially TE which can find around 10 starters in this years crop.

FA looks to be Bozeman and Foreman and I hope a DE for he 34 from Denver or AZ. That and possibly one WR vet. Might take all our dollars there. And, a vet QB, almost forgot that one.

Oline same as last season with the addition of maybe a T/G with our last pick.
WR Vet FA, Shi Smith at slot, and Marshall (who will need to step up)
TE from Draft, quick RB from draft
    Vet QB

Dline with Brown as DE, McCall/Roy at Nose, New FA at other DE
OLB being Brown and Draft pick, ILB's Shaq and Luvu. Not sure where they plan on playing Barno
Need one corner, not sure where to pick up. Our two highly paid corners can't stay healthy

    Rd 1 QB
    Rd 2 DE/Edge
    Rd 3 TE
    Rd 4 Possession receiver
Rd 4 Change of pace RB
    Rd 5 Tackle/Guard

This offseason will be a pretty good patch for a lot of holes and with no first rounder next year, at least FA can fill some slots when we should have about 90 million to spend

    That would be...

Now that would be a miracle.

Wayyyyyyyy too much is being made of the 3-4 stuff. The Panthers have been using 3-4 fronts since Ron's last year. It's not some seismic shift.

The biggest difference in this system is the secondary responsibilities. You need a safeties who can fly downhill from depth, and since both of these starters are better around the line, that's a big concern for me. You also need a legitimate nickelback, not some try hard safety misfit.
