    ftfy. question is: who suspected first, the fans or the players? it's the chicken and the egg argument. I run into this with UNC fans all the time. There is a big segment who claim 'put a good product on the field and I'll show up.' Yeah right. That's what the Tampa Bay Rays owner thought too, but it didnt change shit as far as changing fan indifference when they made a couple world series runs. Additionally, homefield advantage can be a huge advantage in football, more so than baseball, and showing up and being loud (at the right times) definitely helps your team to win. Having a fanbase that expects to win is even more of an advantage. None of those exist in Carolina. If the fans expect the team to lose, and leave early down 8 points, then they shouldnt be surprised or upset when they do because it becomes obvious to everyone involved that they dont ultimately care about the result as much as they care about avoiding traffic or getting a good seat at uptown caberet or whatever it is they are leaving to do. Emotions are a big part of the game, even for professionals.
