Some people, maybe, but with Flacco you could also see accuracy and touch. I worried about his decision-making since he stared down receivers at Delaware and didn't show much proficiency at progressing through his reads, but Stafford has a fair amount of that Rex "Fuck it, I'm going deep!" Grossman in him. He's more talented and more accurate than Grossman, so I'm not saying he'll be that bad, but Stafford shows a lot more physical skills than mental ones, and I'm of the opinion that mental skills are much more important to play QB at the NFL level.

Not sure where we will end up going towards the end of the 2nd round. DT / DE depth will look to be gone by then. My money is on the secondary. Who knows what we'll do with Lucas. Marshall's play surprisingly tailed off this past season. Could be some interesting safety and CB options available. If a nice safety is available to we grab him and attempt to shift Godfrey to CB? He played there in college. Who knows what the hell the have in CJ Wilson but there is no point in by passing on talent.

WR as strange as it sounds might be an option towards the bottom here. I'm guessing Hackett is gone. Jarrett might step up but who knows. 3 year rule for WR? Moose is aging. Robinson is coming off injury.

My other guess is O-line. Bridges sucks now. He was solid enough but kinda blew hard in the last few games. Depends on what we do with Gross I know.

edit: this far down for our first pick we kinda gotta go with the best talent right?

I really don't see urgency in WR. A develop guy would be fine, but we have more than enough to dress with or without Hackett. If, two years from now, Moose doesn't have it or Jarrett hasn't earned it, get another vet.

DT is still where I'd go for the top pick/need, unless we solve it before the draft. DE is a need but not something I'd expect to get a ton of impact out of the first year; guard/center is a strength of this draft and we'll need another guy in there.

Corner is definitely a possibility as well. If they do drop Lucas, having a young player to fight with Marshall ensures a little quality there, but not much point after the 3rd. Meeks has excelled with young players, so this tends to make the most sense of fiscally handling the position.

I think you are forgetting we have other picks to discuss or maybe trading up into the 1st to get a player

If Peppers does leave, then DE probably passes DT in importance. Both need to be addressed, though, maybe even with multiple picks. A 3rd or 4th round CB to compete with Marshall and Wilson would be worthwhile, and then I'd probably take a guard in the later rounds. You can also get some one-dimensional DT rotation filler in the later rounds as well.

Kind of tough to speculate on our draft until the Peppers and Gross situations are resolved. But if it follows the conventional thinking, we'll be down an automatic every game starter at DE and are weak at DT so we should replentish as possible, early and often. I am a little concerned about Meeks and the Indy model of lighter DL, how much of that was him and how much influence he'll have in our acquisitions.

that was Dungy, on personnel. The personnel in Tampa got bigger when he left, and there's no doubting the size in Chicago or MN.

Would be well worth the Panthers taking a look at it. Leftwich played well when he was on the field replacing that guy with the mile long name. When you get down to it the Steelers play the kind of offensive football that Fox wants to play. Leftwich did a good job with a run first team and minimizing mistakes, which is exactly what Delhomme is supposed to do (and failed at a few weeks ago). Still, as has been said, Leftwich probably wants to start and Fox will go down with the ship using Jake.

With Shack Harris (one of his largest backers in Jacksonville) in Detroit I wonder if Byron ends up there.
