I don't think he's a miracle solution, but Boller has the physical traits, mainly arm to get the ball deep to Smith running long, and being in Billick's offense he sufficiently has had it beaten into his head about dumping off and playing underneath. He's not a great technician, and he's not going to improve here, but if you're looking for a guy who can bring prototype skill and some veteran experience, he's a guy to look at.

It's what we just did with Carr, but that's essentially what we'll have to do again. We won't draft a top QB, we can pit Moore against Basanez next year in the faux "you might stand a small chance at being our backup one day unless we get enamored with somoene else, which we've been prone to do literally once a year" competition, and that leaves Jake and a guy who could start if he absolutely had to start if Jake can't.

If we were getting rid of Jake, I'd say we could consider McNabb. He'll be huge money, moderate injury risk, and you have to be behind him 100% to keep him from being a distraction to teammates or press. I wouldn't be totally surprised if he landed in Atlanta. You could take a shot at also-rans like Culpepper, Harrington, but what's the point?
If we were starting fresh, I'd also take a long look at seeing if Whisenhunt actually wants Leinart, what with the curious struggle he had for a while this year and not being a Whisenhunt - picked guy. Plus, I think he's still really talented and would excel in this offense.

It's funny, because I'd entertain Vinny in camp, to keep if we had to, but he's too old to sit and hope he has a roster spot. He didn't sit for the Pats, and we really could use bringing in Jake, Vinny, another vet, and the two young guys.

PS - quick, someone name another tackle prospect besides Jake Long. :party3:

I prefer the idea of someone like Vinny.

By 'like' Vinny I'm making a broad generalization. I mean like a really old guy.

Our best backups have been old guys who made it awhile in the league. ie Vinny, Bline.

So what old guys will be available, now that we presume Vinny will not stay?

Brad Johnson is locked up through 2009.
Dilfer is signed and has looked pretty bad.
    Griese locked in.
    Huard locked in.
    Holcomb locked in.
    Warner locked in.

Brunell should be available. HE's $5 million next year.
Pennington ( would be interesting ) may be available also.

So nobody is definitely available that fits the profile, except maybe Vinny.

I guess good backups are NOT easy to find.

I't take Lorenzon as a backup before fucking Brunell.

They may be locked up but players get released.

How is Lorenzon known as better than matt moore though?

Not arguing for Brunell at all.
