It makes more sense now, but the 4-3/3-4 debate is somewhat archaic. Plus we've been playing odd man fronts for several years, and apparently I'm the only person who's noticed.

I never use the 4-3 in Madden. Isn't Madden exactly like real life? And if you believe the power rush is overrated, then why not have an extra LB who can either blitz or drop back in coverage. It seems more flexible by default.

Yeah, that's a 3-4. Why not make it the default? Extra LB is better than an extra DT.

You'd see a slight shift in the personnel we acquire. We usually take "3-4 guys" off the draft board. You might see more 6'5" 300 lb type lineman on the team.

You'd probably see the Sam backer become a DE tweener. Luke and Shaq will be inside. But I don't think it would be the major shift that Person is making it out to be. We already drop Addison a bunch. He probably drops more often than some 3-4 "outside linebackers". You'd just see him in a two point stance more often.

I like how they have started calling DEs and 3-4 OLBs as "Edge". Have they been doing that for a while?

The first time I saw it was on PFF a few years back. I guess they're the originators of that label. It's not always technically true, but I suppose it works colloquially. Yes, I used spell check for colloquially.

Peppers would be a wildcard if we do become more of a 3-4 base, since he can play both DE and OLB. I don't know what the plan is with him yet. It sounds like the team would have him back if he still wants to play.
