Man I'm starting to dislike cam.

    Which blows shit.

But - wtf happened to the team? Awful to watch.

Lack confidence in Cam? Pissed about Hardy situation? Lack confidence in coaches?

It's a goddam train wreck - all phases. Unbearable. I always thought it was awful with Rivera, save the last part of last year. It's much worse.

That was pathetic. I have no idea why head aren't rolling, particularly when Hurney went mid season.

    Oh yeah - playoff hunt.

The team had short-term success band-aiding the roster with one year contracts, then our GM fell in love with his own press and lost touch with reality.

Aside from that, it wasn't a good roster to begin with. Even had Hardy not been made a cuckold by a washed-up rapper and thrown that disgusting cum-dump of a girlfriend onto a futon, the pass rush wasn't going to be as unrealistically dominant as it was last year, so it was imperative to upgrade the secondary. Gettleman decided that we could actually downgrade it and be OK. You know, since we're "cap challenged" (several million under the salary cap).

As for Cam, he is what he is. I'm very concerned about him physically (the coaches aren't since we continue to slam him into a brick wall on QB dive plays), and I think we should just make up a reason to place him on IR. But the constant is that he requires a good OC. He's like most starting quarterbacks in the NFL. People have trouble accepting that in today's age of THIS GUY IS THE NEXT SUPERSTAR, but that's the truth. There's like five quarterbacks in the world who can transcend incompetent coaching. The rest need good coaching.

Most of us were talking last season about what a fun ride that was because it clearly wasn't going to continue. We knew the offensive line was going to be a disaster. We knew Mike Shula is the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL. We knew that wide receiver was going to be a problem. We knew that the GM running off Steve Smith and Jordan Gross would have repercussions in the locker room. We knew that Cam had not improved his technique or bad habits at all despite the media gushing about his newfound maturity and leadership. We knew that signing two of the absolute worst safeties in the NFL last season and starting them next to each other would be a disaster. We knew that C.J. hasn't been right since his knee injury. I knew that Kuechly was overrated. I didn't know that Thomas Davis would decline, but it should have been predictable given his age.

Most of this stuff was talked about on TBR before the season even started. That's why this forum is still valuable despite its dwindling activity, because people who are genuinely interested in the Carolina Panthers will hear honest, accurate assessments of the team that they can't get in the Observer or at the Huddle. Most of us, including myself, are surprised at just how bad things have gone, but I guess it's fair considering that nearly everything went right for the team last season.

yeah, I think most everybody knew this season would be a dumpster fire, considering how the offseason went and the roster they fielded.

and like you said, it is surprising its such a stinking, shit smoking dumpster fire clown act.

what's even worse is the division was there for the easy taking this year
