    this just in from charlotte.com

Smith suffered a strained left hamstring in Saturday afternoon’s practice, the team’s second workout of training camp. He re-injured the same hamstring that bothered him during June coaching sessions.

    thats not toooo bad.

He will miss a couple weeks of training camp but no regualr season games!

Silver lining. He had nothing to prove in camp. This gives Colbert a chance to prove he can be worth a shit

    >>>Panthers | Fox encouraged by doctor's report on S. Smith
    Sun, 30 Jul 2006 08:41:38 -0700

Charles Chandler, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox was encouraged by the team doctor's reports on WR Steve Smith (hamstring). Smith suffered a strained left hamstring Saturday, July 29, the same hamstring that bothered him during June coaching sessions. Smith will be day-to-day, according to Fox, with the team being extra cautious with him. Fox said, "We'll get him out here when he's healthy. You take it as slow as need be to heal."<<<

Any regular here is well aware of what hamstring injuries are. Moose got us all familiar with them on several occasions. The above does strike me as an indicator that is could possibly be closer to 8 weeks than 2 before we see him take the field.
BTW gottalaff, unless you're looking to piss people off unnecessarily you may want to refrain from the purely provocative thread titles . . . asshat
