Is anyone else worried that somehow he leaves? Until he is locked up, I am VERY worried that some team is gonna offer him the farm and give up the token 3rd to get him. Honestly, Steve Smith is worth the franchise tag. He is the most important FA this team has ever had to retain. Delhomme is up there as well but he's under contract for now. Moose, Stuessie and Grant can leave IMO if thats what it takes to lock these 2 up.

I'm praying those 2 deals get done very quickly.

I'd like to keep Moose but IMO Stuessie is making a lot of mistakes. I don't think Smith will leave. I'm sure there are a lot of other teams out there salivating but he seems to liked it here. He's really turned his act around and I'm sure he'll get a pretty sweet deal.

I am skeered shitless until we have him locked up, and I'm skeered until we have Jake locked up long-term. I will be nervous about these two until something happens.

Steve Smith is a RESTRICTED Free Agent... why are so many people looking over this... we have the right to match ANY offer that's made to him... I expect we'll see him resigned long term, but if not He'll be Tendered a 1st and a 3rd and we'll have him AT LEAST next year.

I don't think these two are going anywhere. They're key players that took a team from 1-15 to the super bowl. THey know there's something here and if I were in the same situation I would want to be around next year.

I know he's restricted, and I don't think they want to go anywhere else either. Maybe it was just Philadelphia rubbing off on me since I spent a week up there.

It was my understanding we would get a 3rd if he leaves and thats it. Sure we can match, but what if someone offers him the biggest WR salary in football? Fox and the boys seem very unwilling to destroy the teams salary cap for any 1 player.

The possiblity is out there Brain. Until he is signed longer term, there is always a possiblity he could leave here.

    we get better than a 3 if he's tendered a 1st AND 3rd.

If your right, I do feel much better. With those facts - a team would have to be absolutely in love with Smith to give him a huge contract AND give up a 1st and 3rd round pick this year.

I'm not sure there is a player in football (non-QB) that is worth that kinda compensation.

Also, you would think it would have to be a good team with a lower pick in those rounds. No team with a top 15 pick would give that up no matter how good Steve is right now.

There are three RFA tendering offers. One, the minimum offer, allows you Right of First Refusal and compensation of the drafted value (in this case, a third). There's a first round tender, and one with a 1 & 3.

The team looks somewhat willing to wrap him up before the RFA season starts. However, if someone offered him Coles money, then he's outta here.

I take some major issue with just letting one very important FA walk and cutting two other veterans simply to keep one veteran. IMO, Smith is equal to Muhammad in what they each bring and to cut one to feed the other only stands to leave less in the cupboard.
