In three or four years, LeFors will be the starter in Carolina. I'd put money on it.

Jake already told him that if he got drafted by us, that he would show him the ins and outs of the team and what to expect. It sounds to me that Jake is grooming him to be his replacement in the far, far future.

    and I'd take it, but I don't bet so I won't

That would be fantastic although I hope Jake is still the QB in 3 or 4 years. I just don't think the odds are in his favor.

    Me too.

Jake is 30 already. Maybe he plays for a while like Favre, but thats not the NFL norm.

Have to have a replacement ready to take over in 3 years, in deferrence to past history.

If Jake plays a long time like Favre then there are worse things that spinning off good QBs for draft picks. Look at Brunell and Hassleback.

Jake could play a long time. He doesnt have the wear and tear of a 30 year old QB who has been a starter since he was 23, 24, 25. He has been starting for 2 years. Rich Gannon is similar in that he got a starting gig later on in his career, and he played well until he was 37-38. People always talk about how running backs have a short shelf life, but QB's do too. They get beat up playing that position. Look at Drew Bledsoe. He is 33 i think, and has more mileage than an similar aged QB with less starting experience like a Trent Dilfer or a Jeff Garcia.

Jake has a lot less mileage on him than most QB's his age. If we can protect him, I don't see why he can't be playing at a high level for four more years.

Do y'all really consider mileage a concern for a QB? I'd call it experience and until the arm strength goes down it's a good thing.

yeah. Its a concern for Kurt Warner. All the concussions, his thumb. Its a concern for Drew Bledsoe and all the hits he has taken over the years. Its a concern for Steve McNair as well.

the key there is injuries, not mileage
