Whenever I get excited about draft picks I get a dose of reality by thinking of who they took a couple of years ago that will fade or be gone by the time this season starts.

Players who have to step up this year or risk vanishing are Eric Norwood, Armanti Edwards, Jimmy Clausen, R.J. Stanford, Jordan Pugh. Barnidge, Gettis and LaFell are safe, but even for them, it's time to step up or risk never getting enough playing time to distinguish themselves. This is the year when the team decides to stick with them in some capacity or move on.

Eric Norwood is the perfect example. We should be talking about him being ready this year to compete with Hardy, not hoping a rookie from Oklahoma will be able to.

Most of those guys are already lost causes. I think you're more on target with Barnidge, Gettis, and LaFell needing to establish themselves as reliable contributors or risk being replaced in 2013.

Norwood and Edwards have no chance to make this team IMO....

I'm curious to see how Gettis responds after being gone a year.

Nah... there's a chance. It involves some serious injury situations, but its there. That being said the argument can be made that Norwood and Edwards should've never been drafted here.

Weird, 'cause Norwood was such a badass - but in the pros, man.

Maybe the guy can be effective in another defense.

That draft really was a complete waste of energy.

But lets be honest, nobody was super thrilled when that draft went down.

And on that note, how many of you guys cant help but check out what Foxy did. Good lord.

I get the feeling Fox less sway with Elway/Bowlen than he ever did here.

Found this quote from Hurney interesting and complete shit:

"Joe Adams' punt return skills are special, but I think Armanti is in the mix at receiver, which we always saw as his best shot," Hurney said. "Armanti brings deep speed, which we're looking for."

Admits Armanti sucks as a PR but also says he has deep speed which I don't think he's shown at all. If anything we have all noticed how he would always get caught from behind.

For whatever reason I see Armanti making the team at least out of camp. If he still proves he's unreliable and not ready to contribute hes gone early.
