Yeah, I agree his growth did get stunted, but he was an 18 year old goaltender on a last place team with one of the worst defenses in the league. I don't see that same pressure on Staal with the other offensive talent that is there. Actually, my biggest concern was that with Crosby and Malkin at center before him, he would be placed on a checking line with shity wingers and little playing time. I thought that would hurt his confidence and offensive growth, but with Malkin on the wing and Staal at #2 center, it's a great fit.

Fluery is playing very well now too. They thought about sending him down after he had a poor training camp but he's started every game for the Pens so far. I thought we were going to forever regret not taking Eric Staal.

Nah...Fleury showed flashes when he was a rookie...Still not 100% sold on him just yet, but he certainly has the tools.

The way Staal (Jordan) is playing now, he is making it tough for the coaches to put him anywhere, or with anyone else.

Do you think they can be a threat to make the playoffs, meaning can they be among the top 8 all season long?

Tonight Staal will be a healthy scratch for the first time this season. He has cooled down quite a bit, not very noticable on the ice at all any more.

Playa, you and Solartgay should just talk on the phone because you seem to be the only 2 that care about hockey.

physically,. he might not be ready for the night-to-night grind. No doubt he's got talent.
