Does his deal call for that much next year? How much of that would we save by releasing him?

    That does change things.

Yup .. . a complete waste of time and energy. Aside from peppers who can remember the panthers picking anyone that they were projected to pick?
I can't even remember anyone guessing maybe more than one pick right . ..

Trying to think of something silly and useless enough to compare mock drafts to . . . .. and I already want that 30 seconds of my life back

Can you draft a new head coach?

I think mocks are valuable as educational tools. Initial values, and what people think are our biggest needs. And it'll get people to go look up a few players.

but from a macro standpoint, there's so many things that need to happen. Will there be a new CBA? Peppers, the FAs who'd be RFA if there's no cap? IF there's a cap, where will we stand? Will we have a new head coach, or a new coordinator? Will a veteran starter be on staff?

I don't mind Tony Pike. You have to negate some of his completion percentage, but he's still a strong armed, fairly large guy.

I'm resigned to the fact that our QB, if we choose to go with a higher round guy, will have a spread background. Fox has even liked spread guys before. It'll retard development, though - take a guy who seems to look like a very efficient pro style QB, McCoy. He's never taken snaps from center. You have to figure that'll be an adjustment in playing style and scheme, and you have to get into your own rhythm - the offense won't do it for you. The offense is doing its own thing.

He's due an 8 million dollar roster bonus in march + 2million salary guaranteed if he's on the week 1 roster, I bring this up constantly. And Achilles injuries aren't always easy recoveries, we should dump him and finally get around to actually replacing Jenkins.

yeahbut that's not Fox & Company's style . .. if they really really like someone they stick by that guy NO MATTER WHAT.
I think they really really like Kemo . . . I predict ZERO radical changes at DT. They traded for Leonard and Tyler (at GREAT expense I'm sure, from their POV) drafted Irvin (relatively high I'm sure, from their POV), fork-lifted in Thomas, and Lewis (AND Hayden) aren't going anywhere. Even if Kemo snaps a tendon first day in 2010 I'd bet they won't do anything significant

probably should - especially given that the achilles puts him in natural doubt anyway.

If they do keep him, though, the 8 mil converts to a signing bonus.

I did not realize that he was structured that way. If we can re-do his deal then I would not mind seeing him back but barring that he needs to go. No way I would give him an $8 million roster bonus, even if he had been healthy this year and played to his normal level.

We have been lucky this year with Thomas. I am not sure we can count on getting another good year out of him.
