So where does Moose end up, and for how much?

Yeah. Muhsin's rep had a deal he wanted, he broadcast that over the freaking media, making it well known at Joe Gibbs' expense, and then they simply negotiated.

That's what Carolina would've done, if they'd offered actual money rather than a pay cut.

It's easy to throw out those kinds of contracts when you're a bottom feeder like Chicago. (see also: pre-Marvin Lewis Cincinnati, Arizona, etc.)

I think it came down to this: get paid and be the #1 guy again, or stay with a winning team with another legitimate shot at the show before you retire. Guess the man wanted to get paid. Not that I blame him. It is what it is, and what it is, is his call. He'll get good money, all the glory, and probably make a few more Pro Bowls. But one thing he'll never have now is a Super Bowl ring, or even another shot at one.

It sucks. Bad. I wanted him here. Chicago didn't offer him stupid money, either. If they gave him Moss money, we'd all be singing a different tune. This team will feel his absence for a couple of seasons to come, mark my words.

Someone saw him on tv today (Moose) and he said he was excited about being the #1 guy in Chicago. Whether folks think he can or not, he at least DID do it last year. He said Charlotte would always hold a special place in his heart - maybe just being politically correct, but I think that's true. Whether it ended the way he would have liked or not, despite the 1-15 he had some good years here and the past few since Fox has been here had to be exciting - first year start turning things around, then the SB and even though last year fell way short, it showed the team's heart/spirit.

I wonder if Moose is a bit "anti-press" - I've heard some folks from boards who do interviews non professionally as well as "real journalists" say a couple times this week that they didn't care for Moose but that "he also had a good side we didn't see". I've heard lots of fans from training camp and practice say how accomodating Moose was and my own experience with him when I took the sign down was that he was very warm person.
