Let me preface this by saying this is a question, not bait:

Name me some times where you percieved Carolina pulling this kind of shit?

Grant, James, Howard are three that come to mind. Granted, I didn't feel that we had to have these players. What I wanted was a good representation of what they were worth in an offer to them (we lowballed each), and then a good-faith attempt at replacing them. We put a lot of effort into CB, though I felt we overspent on Hawkins. We felt like pooling a bunch of has-been vets at $600k a pop at guard and FS would solve the problem, where I felt like one good player at each would've done much better.

We have since after we signed Jake. Who have we kept, of worth, since? From then on, it was who would come for the price we were willing to offer, not the quality of the player and whether he was worth that.

Yep. There's a couple threads on here about the Insider rankings and they're well over a year old.

I think Grant would have been worth keeping.

    I think Jeno was over-paid.

    I think Howard was over-paid.

    I think Hawkins is over-paid.

I also think Moose is a "core" player. And I think the two sides might have been closer than we think to a deal. It just didn't work. I don't think Moose is insulted, I just think there are other teams with more to offer the ours.

That would imply that the "true" Moose was the one we got this year and not the one we saw over the previous few seasons.

Agreed on the end results. I do think that, had we spent enough time working out a deal, we could've gotten Jeno back for a couple mil. He's not worth $4 mil, but no one thought he had that value. If he doesn't make it to the open market, he doesn't know he's worth that to anyone.
