The only thing we know with absolute certainty is that we need a change at QB. Whether that's Moore, Feely (I seriously doubt it), or someone not currently on the roster is up for debate. I honestly believe even an average QB starting for this team could account for a 3+ game swing, and that's probably conservative.

Note: I just checked NFL.com's stats page. Jake's QB rating is only better than Jamarcus Russel and Derek Anderson. He's second only to Cutler in INTs (18 vs. Cutler's 20). BOTH of SFs QBs have higher ratings, as do rookies Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez. Good Lord... :ack2:

We're boned without a 1st round draft pick as far as replacing Peppers or Kemo in the draft with any kind of quality. The flip side is that if we try to fill those holes/upgrades with free agents, we'll be limited by either a new salary cap or JR's bank account in an uncapped year. Either way, we're looking at around an $18M difference depending on whether or not Peppers is re-tagged. If he's re-signed, who knows?

I don't think Smitty should be traded (and certainly not released), and I don't think he will be. If he is, I think we'll be wallowing in mediocrity for quite a while before the ship is turned in any kind of positive direction.
