I think the playoffs this season are out of the question, and even if we made it it would be an embarassment. What are the next steps this franchise should take, given the draft and money situations? I know we all have said do this or do that, but what should we do with the rest of the season and then what in the offseason, and how?

We should keep playing to win until we are mathematically eliminated. Once that happens we should give Matt Moore a chance to play.

they should try and trade Steve Smith and get some picks or a QB. Let Peppers walk unless you can trade him-you saw how little interest there is with him last year. Maybe if it is an uncapped year some team will be stupid enough(other than the Panthers) to give him a ton of cash. Fox may need to go? I dont know but he sure needs to update his 2003 coach manual.

this year they need to get the best record possible if for no other reason than to give the 49'rs the worst pick possible. and fuck Jake, this season is done. I dont care if he ever takes another snap. play Matt Moore and see if he is even worth bringing back next year at all. play Feeley some too. how fucking long does it take to learn the 4 pass plays we run?

I expect there will be some decent veteran QBs available this coming offseason. Marc Bulger, Matt Hasselback, Chad Pennington, Jason Campbell, Tavaris Jackson, Kyle Orton and Byron Leftwich are all guys who might be available. Some will be free agents. Some might get cut. Sign one or two of these guys and hope for the best. We are a QB away from being good.

We could always trade a back up special teams guy for Peyton Manning I suppose.

Bulger Hasslebeck and Pennington are injuries waiting to happen, Leftwich and orton are are on their way to that category the way their ankles give.

That is why I said sign one or two of these guys. If you sign two maybe you get one who can stay healthy and not suck.

We are limited in what we can do to obtain a new QB. Since we do not have a first round pick we are not likely to be able to draft a guy who can start right away. Maybe if we deal Peppers we can do something.
