No. He's bad. Really bad, although he has gotten better than the unmitigated disaster that he was in 2013 and 2014. Cam Newton has made Shula's results better, whereas if you have Shula a quarterback like Ryan Tannehill, he would get fired within a year.

    Sometimes here, sometimes there
That's extraordinarily well said, on point and factual, Collin.

While I don't like the shit you give folks sometimes for being retard fans, and the abusive way you do it at times, it's stuff like that and the analysis you used to do more of that proves you're as well versed, knowledgeable and 'brilliant' (as you put it) about the stuff we're interested in in this forum. Of course we're hungry for the good stuff about all things Panthers here, as well as related NFL matters.

That was exactly the type info I was seeking. Some of us aren't nearly as good as you at making valid points like that.

I expected no less from you, Thanks.

Another important point is that no player or coach is good or bad all the time. Shula has had a couple of really good games in terms of play design and play-calling, and during those games I gave him credit for doing a good job. But I do still believe that he is holding this offense back and that they would be much better with someone like Chudzinski. Critics might rebut that the team is winning more under Shula, which is true, and it's possible that being much more conservative has something to do with that.

I think in fairness, a bit, Chud had Smitty, Olsen, LaFell, even Shockey, not that he did a ton but I remember it working pretty good his first year. And he didn't have Bell at LT.

Just saying, there are many factors that influence stats.

Also, Chud had a totally green Qb, otoh. So, factors tipping things another way.

    Lots of variables.

The last year of Chudzinski and first year of Shula had identical starters on offense except that Shula had two massive upgrades at LG (Wharton over Silatolu) and C (Kalil returning from injury over Hangartner) and more or less a wash at RG (Chandler/Scott versus Garry Williams). In 2012 the Panthers were 9th in yards per play. In 2013 the Panthers were 22nd in yards per play.

yeah I know. Well, I didn't know the numbers but I knew we took a step back. Yet somehow, we had a pretty good record.

I know you love Chud. I am not really in love with Shula but don't hate him either. And you know, I don't miss Chud and we are, in fact, doing pretty well without him.

I have heard Rivera credit him, and I don't deny his intelligence, I just was not crazy about the play calls a lot of times.

We'd have never had the balance we have now, I don't think. Tolbert was barely used one season. Seems like we went for stats instead of drives a lot of times too, but I don't have numbers, just my impressions from back then. Which you are free to shit on, or not, it's not gonna change anything.

I expect him to do well in Indy with Luck, looking forward to seeing that unfold.

    I'm rational, not emotional.

    Here are the seasonal rushing totals: 2408 in 2011, 2088 in 2012, 2026 in 2013, 2036 in 2014, 2282 in 2015.

Chudzinski only had Tolbert in 2012. That season he had 451 combined yards (more than 2015/2014 but less than 2013) and 7 touchdowns (tied with 2013 for his most in a Panthers uniform).

What exactly do you mean by that? Carolina's average drive in 2011 went for 34.8 yards. In 2012 that dropped to 32.9, then 29.8 in 2013, 31.0 in 2014, and 29.9 in 2015. The average plays per drive was higher in 2013 and 2014 than 2011 or 2012 yet 2015 is the lowest of all.
