Scotch Eggs

    Hard boild egg wrapped in sausage and then deep fried. Some dip them in batter before frying.

    Delicious!

    The trick is, when you get your sausage meat - use wet hands and pat it out on your hand as flat as you can. Pop the hard boiled egg in the middle and wrap it around, smoothing out the outside. If you don't use wet hands, you tend to end up chasing the egg around the meat :cuss:.

    Yea, I remember that thread - last year sometime?

    Sounds good. Fro's recipe calls for them to be served cold?? Is that right? Sounds like they'd be better hot.

    I've had them served hot at places like RenFest, and more room temp at pubs.

    Still want to try making the scotch ostritch egg

    I usually serve them hot, but make extra and have them cold as leftovers (lunch the next day etc). They're really good if you're doing the high protein thing or need something that's easy to pack and you can just munch on. I've had quail scotch eggs before, and they were tasty. I put fresh herbs in mine - and spice :hump:.

    What's the difference between that, and haveing sausage and eggs in the morning with a side of toast? It's just more portable. Imma make some.
